Fig #3
Reinstall the locking rod #40 and the “star” screw/set screw. Telescope the upper shaft #41 inward so that the bridge tool can be installed. There must still be some exposed flat on the upper shaft. Tighten the “star” screw with a phillips screwdriver (or the set screw with an allen wrench) to lock the shaft in place. Now compress the shaft lock with the special bridge tool or by hand. Install the C-clip with the wider leg of the clip on the keyway side of the steering shaft yoke (See Fig 3 above.)

The T&T Disassembly & Repair Paper #1 Revised 09OC2007 (with the above corrections) is now available at the http://www.corvettefaq.com websight

Grumpy, what's your opinion on this upgrade vs the Borgeson? This is my next possible upgrade and I'd like your input.

'look forward to hearing your feedback on this one. The one and only 'vette I ever drove had shot bushings and a compromised rag-joint. Even my 'bu has crisper handling. :D

Dorian, once they are fixed up, they handle pretty well, although the C3's are using dated tech for sure and don't handle anywhere near as well as the later models. I swapped out my used up rag joint for a solid one and haven't looked back.
