NOT A TA

reliable source of info
I'm right down the street from Backdraft Racing. The pics in my Florida pic thread of the woody hot rod were taken at the paint shop at the end of the street Backdraft is on and the woody was built in a shop across the street from Backdraft. I'll swing by Backdraft and get some spy shots! ahahaha. Really, I'll just walk in....... They had a couple nice Cobras and a bad ass Mustang track car out in the lot yesterday. I talked to them at the Barrett Jackson Palm Beach auction last year and the mostly complete cars (minus engine & trans) they sell are assembled in S. America IIRC.

I've been working on a Factory Five GTM build for someone a couple years now. LS 2 with Porsche G-50 trans, runs and drives. Haven't worked on it in a couple months but owner says he wants me back on body work soon.

any time you think about purchasing a EXOTIC KIT CAR
TAKE THE TIME TO EXTENSIVELY RESEARCH THE VENDORS TRACK RECORD,
WITH AT LEAST 6-7 PEOPLE THAT RECENTLY BUILT THAT PARTICULAR KIT CAR!
AS TO PARTS QUALITY< PROMPT DELIVERY< CUSTOMER SERVICE,
AND WHAT PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS HAVE STATED ABOUT THE QUALITY,FIT,FINISH ETC.
MANY OF THE SMALLER AND LESS WELL KNOWN,
KIT CAR VENDORS HAVE A WELL DESERVED REPUTATION FOR CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE,
AND DOING THINGS LIKE DISCONTINUING PART SALES

the last thing you need is to spend multi-thousands on 3/4's of a kit and find the company is now out of business or no longer making components for your particular car.
this is one reason that buying a complete kit or someones semi complete project car might be the most cost effective route.
I bring this up simply because I've heard numerous stories of guys buying kit cars only to find that key components , like frames, custom wire wheels or head lights, wind shields, hoods, trunk lids, dashes, floor pans, suspensions brakes, etc. were not available, as sales of the kits fell short of expectations so mid production the vendor support was cancelled.. while that might not be a huge issue if you build an A.C. cobra or 34 ford coupe, as there are several vendors and parts from a second source might be modified to fit, if your building a custom replica 1934

Bugatti that might pose a serious set-back
