Road Roamer said:The local "performance" muffler shop quoted me $700 out the door. 3" pipe from the collectors to the bumper (no fancy tips) includes 2 chamber flow masters and an X pipe. I was quoted $700 out the door. Is that good, average or too much?
Thanks in advance!
we have a dedicated WELDING SECTION WITH A GOOD DEAL OF USEFUL LINKED INFO

Every time I see guys get quoted on jobs like that I'm very thankful I purchased a decent MIG welder and OWN a decent TIG welder, its the constant difference in the potential cost savings I see, when I get quoted on jobs like that vs what it may cost me to do it myself where I know its done correctly vs watching some guy rush through a job to just get it out the door, and the consistent reduced cost, ($100 here, $300 there) from owning a decent welder and being able to fabricate an exhaust myself to exactly the way I want it too be that made me buy a welder and easily paid for itself in well under a year, and from then on it was a consistent and very cost effective asset.
the $700 they quoted would be on the LOW END of quotes from what I see around here, and I have zero doubt you could easily save $200-$300 plus doing the job your self, it won,t take many jobs saving that kind of cash to pay for a welder and accessories

and you darn sure don,t need a top quality welder LIKE I BOUGHT if you just want a decent shop welder, something like the welder linked below would do 95% of what the larger welder does and maybe 99% of what a car shop ever does
