28-TCS - Traction Control System
C1214 Sol Valve Relay Contact or Coil CKT Open
The solenoid valve relay is located in the EBTCM and supplies power to the solenoid valves in the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (CKT 1242, 1 RED, going to TERM D of BPMV).
The relay is activated with IGN ON, with no faults present and remains ON until IGN is turned OFF or a failure is detected.
The DTC sets if with IGN ON and the solenoid relay voltage is <8v, with IGN > 10.5v. The DTC is stored, ABS/TCS is disabled and the ABS/TC indicators are turned ON.
Diagnostics:
Inspection of wiring/connectors/fuse:
ABS/RTD 20A MaxiFuse (Underhood ELE Center)
G401 (3-BLK, CKT 1250) Located LF rear wheelhouse.
G402 (1-BLK/WHT, CKT 1251) Located RT rear wheelhouse.
TERM A, UEC (1RED, CKT 1242, to TERM D EBTCM)
Note: The RELAYS are integral to the EBTCM and not serviceable (replace EBTCM)
Remove 20A ABS/RTD MaxiFuse. Is the fuse O.K.?
YES:
With fuse installed, Using DMM (J 39200), measure voltage at the 20A fuse (Bet fuse TERM & GND)
Is voltage BAT (12v)? If NO: repair/restore power
If YES: IGN OFF. DIS EBTCM. CON J 39700 Pinout Box to EBTCM harness. Using J 39200 DMM, measure voltage at TERM D of J 39700. 12v? YES: Replace EBTCM. NO: Repair open in CKT 1242.
NO:
Replace MaxiFuse. Is the fuse O.K.?
NO:
Disconnect EBTCM
Using Universal Pinout Box (J 39700), connect harness
Using DMM (J 39200), measure resistance bet TERM D & B of J 39700. Is resistance OL (infinite)?
YES:
Repair short to GND in CKT 1242.
NO:
Remove EBTCM from BPMV
CON Pinout Box (J 41247) to BPMV
Measure resistance bet J 41247 TREM 7 & the BPMV caase. Is resistance OL?
YES:
Replace EBTCM.
NO:
Replace BPMV.
To clear, use a Scan tool (with DTC no longer present), or after 50 IGN cycles with no DTC detected.
