I have an 84 Trans Am. As you might know, these cars have tight engine compartments, no front grilles, and lower hood lines than Camaros. When I finally get the 334 re-installed, my Turbo "bulge" hood should just close - I hope. The intake manifold is a Weiand 8000, Edelbrock 1904 Quadrajet...
theres a great deal of useful info in these links , and sub linked info so don,t skip over them without looking thru carefully, as theres years of experience to be gained yeah its amazing how everything costs ten times what you think it will and takes five times longer to do even at that...
In our latest installment of our ongoing Camaro project car, BlownZ, we remove our racing exhaust to get them ceramic coated. More precisely, Jet-Hot coated in the company's Extreme 2500 Series - exactly what we need in our high-horsepower, high-boosted 388 cubic inch LSX mill.
Its a Good topic to review today once again Grumpy. Thinking of Tri-Y headers. Be nice to have another set For My T/A Tri Y design. Broden the Torque band on the street or at least try it. Experiment & Tune. HO Racing made them in the past for my TA with Round Port heads. Long gone headers...
Lots of places coating headers today.
Jet Hot was the original starting in 1982.
I chose Jet-Hot Recent to coat my New Hooker Super Comp #4202 Round port headers for my TA.
Bought the 2500 F Coating in Titanium Silver.
Plan on Nitrous Power adder hits & its what the Tech Guys recommended for my application.
Got my Email notification my Headers are done & shipped off to me.
Will have them next week early on.
Expensive the 2500 F.
But its the best there is.
$660 bare steel the 4202 Hookers sell for new now on Summit Racing.
High temp paint lasts just 1 year, I have tried it in the past.
A nice Dragazine article Read I found tonight on Jet Hot 2500 F Ultra High Temp.
They say it's Actually good for 4200 F in the article.
Got my Trans Am Headers back.
Look good.
Titanium silver.
Looks strange closeup.
We are all used to the Shiny Silver.
Last set of headers for my TA I had Jet Hot coat in Shiny 1300 F Silver.
1st time I raced The car hard the coating got hot spots and changed color .
Blistered frosty .
1300 F is for show and cruising only.
Racing you need the 2000 F.
Or 2500 F Ultra Jet Hot.
You don't get shiny silver mirror finish though.
Titanium Silver 2500 F featured in Dragazine article.
There is a Drag Racer left on the Trans Am Forum.
I am no longer there Grumpy.
He does not like Old Skool and rest of them either.
Gary keeps posting funny stuff.
He is sick of 14-15 second advice.
So talking with Maniac Mechanic we have been discussing exhaust and on the chevelle. Mods will be needed to be made to fit my oil pan and heads. Mainly the kick out pan. So we were discussing that I came across Cerakote is being used more and more now as an automotive application for this. I know it has been used for years on guns. But guys are liking it better then the other options as far as durability. It gives around 30% drop in under hood Temps and works for other automotive applications such as pistons. It can be applied with out baking but has strict prep conditions. Parts need to be sand blasted with 100 grit aluminum oxide or garnet sand no scuff or sandpaper. Also degreased with brake clean or acetone. Grumpy do you know or heard anything on this?
