just because you see limited new threads...on any given day doesn,t mean theres not a ton of new info in old threads, if you read thru a thread months ago chances are excellent that a bunch of info was added since then!
If the moderators or I can add new or enhanced data to old threads the moderators and I do so, in fact the moderators and I spend 90% of our time upgrading old threads with new info, because its senseless in my opinion to start a new thread each time a similar questions asked or new info becomes available, that would just make tracking down the answers far more time consuming, so if the moderators and I can clear up info, add to info or add links that help they go in old threads to make research fast and easy, its pointless to have 50 threads on oil pumps or water pumps if you've already got 10-12, it makes far more sense to add new info in any thread that already deals with similar info, in my opinion.
the moderators and I have spent months correcting spelling, adding links and adding bits of info to make threads easier to understand, now the moderators and I may not always succeed but if the moderators and I keep being persistent and spend several hours doing that every day like the moderators and I do it tends to help the resource.
you would be hard pressed to go back to find many threads that are several months old and not find added data, links or additional info, like charts graphs etc.
this sites is installed and maintained
as a knowledge base and reference too draw from on auto related info,
WHICH MEANS OLD THREADS MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL INFO CONSTANTLY ADDED AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE...UNLIKE MOST SITES.
BTW ID LIKE TO THANK ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HELP MAINTAIN AND IMPROVE THE SITE, YOUR A GREAT GROUP!

As a moderator I shouldn't have to ask, but to make it clear to everyone I will;
If new info is added to an old thread, doesn't it still show up as a new post and become discoverable by clicking "View New Posts"? :?

no it does not show as a new thread, go to one of you older threads and edit that old post by adding a line of text or a picture then look in new threads, youll see that only if you add a new post under an existing post does the computer catch the changes

Ive added thousands of charts, pictures and text additions over the last few years,and not a thing shows as new unless it was posted as a response in a new post under the old posts as a reply

Well, I didn't know that! We probably need a way to alert people that have already looked at a thread when new material is added. Otherwise they don't even know to look, they assume or at least I would, that they have all the info already. All the work you to in order to add this shouldn't be missed! ;)

I would agree with Randy that it would be nice to know when there is something new in a Topic. To make it even more useful
would be a way to identify what's new within the topic. If you are trying to find the new info and the topic that is several pages
long, then it would be easy to miss. Maybe a new font or color for new info. This only works for text thou and what about the
2nd or 3rd edit.

If you are a Moderator, then use this link for additional info.
