just read about some local guy who got in a hurry...
he jacked up his car with a floor jack,
under the front and did not use jack stands and wheel chalks,
and support ramps under the wheels,
he simply slid under the car to check something ,
and the car collapsed, crushing & killing him.

look we all have done that at some point, but theres no excuse for being stupid and careless.
Im a firm believer in using 4 12 ton jack stands,
and it certainly won,t hurt to have wheel support stacks or ramps and wheel chalks,
where and when required, it may take you 10-20 minutes longer,
but that sure beats leaving a widow , trying to keep your home and without financing.....
and getting yourself killed or permanently maimed or crippled is not a great outcome either.

A well known local VW tuner did the same failure a few years back, he was killed too. Everytime I have to do a dangerous work on cars (like working on the gas tank or similar things) I talk to my girlfriend and tell her to come every half hour or latest an hour to see if everything is ok. Most of the time I'm working alone on the cars. By the way, everytime I'm working on gas tanks I fill them with carbon (CO2 in german) so nothing can explode. But you never know.
