Grumpy, my 1975 corvette was recently totalled, at a neighborhood intersection,
when some kid ran a red light, luckily no major medical issues, but the insurance just stated the cars a total loss.

well Im Glad your not hurt, cars are just material objects, yes you can get emotionally involved and miss them, but its just time, memories and cash...
I've owned 1959, 1968,1975, 1985, and still own a 1996 corvette, yeah, you may miss or regret selling them, or loss in an accident,
but if your ok you have the memories and if you have the deep pockets,,
you can always buy a new or older car as a replacement!!

look at it as GAINING LIFE EXPERIENCE, and a forced upgrade!!
(obviously try to get the max insurance pay-out and if its a car with an extensively modified drive train,

you might want to try to buy the wreck)
and each future car (corvette you own)
should benefit from your EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE GAINED, AND THUS ,YOUR OWNERSHIP!
look at it this way, you no longer have to deal with the older cars faults, worn tires, shocks,
brakes,or wear and tear, and corrosion, suspension wear, old paint used interior, etc, issues,
(now you can start with a clean slate and do all the little things you meant to do,
on a new (TO YOU CORVETTE)
THUS your better able to do what you did not have the time for on the old car)
or as my wife says.... its just an excuse to buy new tools and parts
and yeah I'm all to familiar with the lack of DEEP pockets
shop carefully there are bargains available
