" grumpy?
I Changed the water pump, thermostat and distributor cap and now my 1996 C4 LT1 Corvette surges. Any suggestions? "
surging usually indicates a vacuum leak or fuel pressure or injector related issue the surge is a symptom, frequently indicating un-even fuel air distribution or an ignition or sensor connection issue, don,t get crazy, just do a systematic and logical step bye step check on each potential cause or potential sub system failure or lack of proper adjustment.
Yes its frustrating but its also a chance to learn about your corvette.
try to isolate the issue through testing the fuel, or ignition, or look for vacuum leaks
because your dealing with a 1996 LT1, that just had the water pump and distributor cap replaced, just prior to the problem... Id suspect that you got some moisture inside the opti ignition or the opti ignition is showing some wear of the plug wires are loose or the firing order might be wrong, ID also check the vacuum hoses and ignition wires and plugs its hardly unusually to find burn plug wires even on a new set just installed or to find loose electrical connections or unplugged vacuum lines after works done on a car. Id also pull the trouble codes and change the fuel filter and verify fuel pressure and check the injector connectors are not loose. and yeah I know you checked, but recheck the ignition wire firing order
here it is in case anyone else needs to know. RH side, top to bottom 4 6 8 2. LH side top to bottom 5 3 7 1.
