Main web clearance when installing 400 crank into 350 block

Is it common to have to clearance the main webs in a 350 block when putting in a 400 gm factory crank?
My problem is i have a 400 crank that previously was in a 383 stroker engine that was decommissioned, the crank is in great condition, but it will not properly drop into my new 350 block that i want to use.
With the correct bearings it sits in the mains but will not fully settle in, and will not move at all.
both blocks are #9170010

400 blocks and cranks have a larger main journal diameter than a 350 blocks bearings will except, unless that 400 cranks mains are turned down
