Many others from 1968-1971 would be also fine, 7040203 is probably the correct one and includes the very unique choke pull off.

This choke pull off intrigues me making it all the more desirable that such a carb find its way back on the 'vette

Kind of like the 1969 LM1, 350, created to give the Camaro a better chance at NHRA stock class drag racing, quietly discontinued after a few months.

Only the pull offs for the choke at auto parts stores as they normally got broke or the diaphragm got a hole in them. Use to get all I could stuff in my pockets when I went to the junk yards.
 
I have 2 of those carbs but but both are one digit off making it for stick shifts, which is no different. Just checked inventory and have 1 - 1970 350/300 manual rebuilt and never used. Those choke pull-offs are available from Napa and I have a few on hand yet.
 
The stick shift carb shouldn't be any problem on a Corvette as the Corvette T-400 should have electric kick down.

I have a full height 2 post lift to aid in any inspection. Diagnostic tools are free to use and non destructive R & R for inspections are ok. I make a full disclosure discription. There are banks that charge a small fee for safety escrows. Commonly accepted terms are 50% sent with signed contract agreement and remaining amount is released from bank upon shipment arrival and acceptance. Ask for details

I like the car. But the buyer has mixed feelings. I checked for rust and couldn't find any. It all looks quite healthy.

The engine ran very smoothly except!!!! The carb is completely out of whack.

We went for a test drive and the car... ran out of gas ! Duh! We checked everything except that. The seller had to drive out with a jerrycan.

But the carb was a disaster. The choke remained closed ( I had to wedge it open) to get home. Indeed, it kept on crapping out on us. Apply the slightest throttle and it died.

So the dilemma is I know this is a reasonable buy but the buyer (the kid) wasn't able to experience the power to weight of the covette.

Also the steering was very very spongy. It felt like there was a problem there. Worn steering box. I'm sure the kid would not be comfortable with that had he been driving.
 
Boy I hope that tank was clean and has a fuel filter. No doubt it could use a rebuild kit. A good kit for this QJet runs about $50 plus $15 for the choke pull-off in the Summit catalog.
On that particular carb if you push the choke rod in hard it will stick in the open position. The spongy steering on these vettes is usually due to a worn or torn rag joint, a lot of play to get a response could be the steering box. One thing among others would be to see the nut adjustment on the steering box and how much of the threads are above the nut, best if even to the top or just a little exposed yet so you know it hasn't been already adjusted for wear. And of course my bet is on the rubber bushings being dry rotted, cracked and worn out along with rod ends. Knowing your talent I'm sure you can rebuild the steering box if it's not damaged.
This car tuned correctly should feel responsive quickly with the pedal and continue to pull through 4th gear.
 
It sure looks nice in "Resale Red" is that the original color? (Monza Red code 974) In one of your earlier photos my monitor shows distortions in the paint's light reflections and I could see the orange peel and some fish eyes. It's rare to see someone skip painting the side fender vents. Also those narrow passenger car tires won't let you corner so well.
Up until 1973, Corvettes came from the factory with Corvette specific tires that did not come on any other car ( a designer, Duntov idea)

I wonder if somebody eliminated the alarm or relocated the keyed switch on the back (looks missing). It was standard in 71/72 and moved to the front left fender about this time, but so cheap (about $30 UA6 code) I never saw an alarm delete car, chrome bumper vette but nearly 10K vettes didn't have a factory alarm.

If that paint is a single stage you likely can wet sand/color sand and buff out that Orange peel. However - Ask "Not A TA" aka John about salvaging that paint job. He shows some pretty incredible work and I believe if it can be done, he'll know better than anybody.
