a neighbor, FRANK,came bye with his new TOY, its a COBRA replica with a 460 ford engine,that he bought as a 1/2 finished project some guy got in over his head building and when he lost his job, he sold it to frank for $7000, it has an auto transmission with a 3.54:1 rear gear, thats had headers, better aluminum heads a cam and intake added , and franks put an additional $4000 into the car since he bought the partially completed project car,now I had a quick drive and Id estimate the power in the 470hp/470ft lbs range
but the car obviously weights less than about 2800lbs and its a real grin to drive, you can just stomp on the throttle and leave long impressive parallel black marks on the pavement, and a cloud of tire smoke, and while its not that fast, because its not getting good traction, Id estimate it would run in the high 12 second range, but for a TOY its a well designed car and it brings a grin to your face.
Its been awhile since Ive had the pleasure of just smoking the tires on a car for grins, as my race vette/weekend toys been in the rebuild process for several months, while I wait for parts and finances to free up.
I see many guys build up cars that cost far more that are not as well balanced or as fun to drive.
now his project car certainly doesn,t look this good, like the picture I found on the internet, but it probably will after he finishes the interior and gets the car painted
