Might as well go quiet, thoughts?

If this weather ever gets acting like spring I could try to sell the Catalina this year.
The dual exhaust sounds loud, but I can’t find any leaks and the mufflers although generic, look ok.

Originally I planned to up grade the exhaust to 2 1/2” from 2” that’s currently there. For the mufflers I planed on using, A set of DynoMax Turbo mufflers, the kind that sounds quiet until you floor the gas pedal and than they sound like performance mufflers.

Does it make any sense to spend good money on this if I’m planning on selling soon? I think not.
However, I do feel there is a benefit to making it sound better and that direction may be to go quiet.

Who makes a very quiet muffler (a cheap set) and must a quiet muffler create too much back pressure? Do I have to change the rest of the exhaust system too?,

These look like the exact same Walker Super Dyno Max Mufflers I bought for my 63 GP.
    Never put them on yet.
Still new at home put away.

    Sound Fx Replaced Super Dynomax.
    Believe exact same.
Part number I recall same in my link.

Should be room on the Big Cat for an X pipe.
    Its a 2bbl 400 so I think optional.
    Have a 450 cfm Rochester.

X pipes scrape the ground on 2nd Gen TA.
    Guys found out.
    Daul 3-4 inch best.
    Or No exhaust used.

LOL! Auto spell changed “quiet”. To “quite”

A few years ago I did order a nearly complete dual exhaust from Summit including an X pipe kit, the over axle pipes were for a Cutlas (nothing off the shelf for a Cat) so they will need extensions to bring the exhaust close enough for just a couple short chrome tips.

It seems like a waste of a good few hundred dollars to install that stuff now and especially since it’s not needed. I can use the Dynomax Turbo mufflers and X pipe on virtually most 2.5” systems

I think most buyers would want a Catalina to be very quiet as opposed to a High Performance T/A (slightly exaggerated of course!)

You were supposed to sell the Big 1968 Catalina Convertible several years ago.
One night at a car show you guys had a closed off street.
    You raced it.
    Ended up liking it.
    Pontiac V8 Torque power.

I dont have to tell you what a 1965 GTO Convetible is worth today or a 1970-1/2"TA RAIV 4-speed.
    You already know too.

They are Racing Station wagons now on Memphis Street Outlaws.

Big Vintage Musclecars are in too.
    Sleepers.
    1968 Catalina.
    1963 Grand Prix.
People been trying to buy mine .
Tell them no way...I Love it.

The Free Flowing Super Dynomax or Xp series should add 30-50 hp.
    Have to install and try.
Pontiacs are like Big Block Chevies.
    Love Free flow exhaust systems.
The Mufflers are whisper quiet at idle.
WOT They Growl...like an old GTO Did.

Not me, but my buddy installed a Walker Super Dyno Max Muffler on his car, and it has a nice throaty sound.
