heres a reather realistic look at what can rather easily be achieved with well matched parts and a slightly over bore 454 to build a 468 BBC with stock oval port heads as a start point, and with some port &bowl area clean-up to improve flow....
468 BBC Dyno Results
Just got the new 468 tuned up on the dyno. The combo is 468 ci, 9.7:1, 781 heads w/2.19 intakes and bow blend, 228/238 108 lsa Isky hyd roller, comp 1.7 rockers, airgap, Holley 850, 2" headers and 3" pipes.

Drivetrain is a tko 500 w/ 30lb steel flywheel, center force dual friction clutch, 8.5 10 bolt w/ 3.73 gears. The car also uses a clutch fan.

It was pretty hot and humid tonight. All pulls were corrected. Best pull was with an 81 jet in the front and 89 in the back. 40 degrees total timing. 93 gas. We tried less timing and more timing but 40 seemed the best. It didn't even ping on 44 but made less power.

424 RWHP and 488 RWTQ. Hotter pulls showed about 415/476. Uncorrected was 498 tq. Horsepower peaked at only 52-5300 rpm and stayed flat the whole curve, dropping off to around 380 at 6200. Torque was extremely flat. Over 450 at 2500 rpm.
