My 90' vette

Thanks Grumpy. I plan to dyno the car and then I'll post everything like you asked.

Meanwhile, it's coming together slowly. It looks more and more like an engine. :D

heads are on

rockers are on and valve lash is adjusted

Im always impressed with both your attention to the details and photographic skills, that canton oil pan is a big improvement over the stock oil pan design and Ive used those same steel roller rockers on several dozen sbc engine builds, they have proven to be very durable.
please let us know how the install progresses and any driving impressions.
as I,m sure your well aware its the attention to details that plays a very important part in the engines durability over the long term, and while each minor modification alone does little that can easily be measured the cumulative total of all the minor adjustments and tweaking to get everything just right produces a superior engine as a result

update...........

new TPIS TB vs stock one

ready to start

and a short video

maybe its just my computers speakers, but that engine sounds like its either got a rather restrictive exhaust,
or perhaps the timings a bit off,
because the engine seems reluctant to rapidly respond to changes in throttle position.
but I'm very impressed with what you've done and the attention to detail.
can you verify your ignition timing, the advance curve and once thats set, post clear pictures of the spark plugs after you run the car for 30 minutes

Grumpy, it's not your computer speakers, it's poor camera sound. Actually, throttle response is really
good, but I have some idle problems. Engine is running waaay too rich and is stalling. But I believe
that it's tune problem and I'm trying to work it out with my tuner.

Since you've mentioned exhaust, here are two pics of my new system. It's custom made of 2.75" stainless
steel tubing:

your exhaust should be fine! so its probably a tuning issue, running rich is frequently the result of defective data from O2 sensors or HEAT sensors

Id start with , pulling any trouble codes, verify voltage at the battery and coil, verifying your fuel pressure, vacuum line connections and setting the TPS and IAC, and IGNITION TIMING

After starting issues, I must say that I'm pleased with how the engine runs.
New O2, new PCV hose (old one was cracked) and a few different tunes
fixed most of the bugs that I had.
I still haven't tried any WOT runs, but part throttle is really good.
Engine feels powerfull and throttle response is absolutely great!

The car is really drivable, even with this big cam. Power brakes work normally,
and only signs of big cam are rough idle and driving on really low rpms with
locked TC.

I plan to change the oil this weekend and then I'll try how it runs under WOT.

Here is one pic with the new exhaust on:

It sure is nice to have 3D Solid Works available and a friend at the CNC shop. You've done some very nice work while taking your time to do the job right. All the photos are nice too, they tell so much information that words cannot communicate.

Congrats! Looking forward to seeing some dyno numbers.

Just a little update. I haven't done much to the car lately, except driving it.
I'm also doing some small adjustments to the tune, trying to get it 100%.
It feels and runs really great.

Until I have some news, here is one pic I made yesterday:

As the spring came by, my will to work arround the car also came back.
I haven't done much since I last posted. I'm still working on the tune.
I still have some minor issues, mostly regarding idle but nothing major.

I haven't touched the diff since I've bought the car and I have planed
to install gears for a long time. I have finally decided that it's time to go
ahead with the plan. I'm still not sure when I'll start with the install
but the parts are here.

All the parts necessary for the complete rebuild, along with the 3.75 gears.

Nice looking car :!: :!:

Are you going to do all the work yourself ? Do you have the tools for setting backlash etc ?

Forget those two questions, I just went back and started looking thru the first 5 pages. I answered my
own questions. Nice work!
