my B.I.Laws BBC VETTE and water pump issues

as many guys have only found out after screwing something up,

there are both short and long BBC water pumps,
and they both come in regular and REVERSE rotation designs.

naturally when my B.I.Laws water pump failed,
the local auto parts store looked up his 1974 corvette,
and ordered THE WRONG LONG WATER PUMP,
(its generally a good idea to take your old failed water pump back to the auto parts store to compare it visually,
with what the auto parts counter guy grabs , off the shelf,
before you drive home, with the replacement part,

only to find what he sold you won't fit or work)

the shorter version is a bit more commonly used on corvettes from my experience,
and I vastly prefer the much more expensive and much lighter weight aluminum vs heavy cast iron versions.

short standard rotation

yes the cast iron versions are much less expensive

heres a LONG REVERSE ROTATION VERSION

heres an aluminum short REVERSE ROTATION BBC PUMP

BTW if you decide to swap a BBC engine into a C4 corvette youll need a short water pump, the old style V belts are generally used with the traditional standard rotation pumps,
the newer original belts and accessories on the C4 corvettes, generally use the reverse rotation water pumps

the info in the picture posted is not ALWAYS CORRECT,
check pump height, and direction of rotation, before ordering a new water pump
