MY OPTI - do I just replace cap and rotor or compete unit?

HEY grumpy, MY OPTI - do I just replace cap and rotor or compete unit??

When I purchased the car it had about 120 k and the seller said that the opti was replaced at 100k. Now that I have her apart, radiator replace and opti drive shaft oil seal, should I just replace the cap and rotor or the opti, cap and rotor?
Not sure which way to go. Don't want to replace things just for the sake of replacing.
She did have a "ping" and a hesitation at times on acceleration.

I know many guys prefer fast answers and the last thing they want to do is be forced into actually learning how the sub systems in the corvette actually function, or being forced into reading or learning about the car, but the truth here is, you need too.
Stop making UN-informed random guesses,
You need a factory shop manual, you need a multi meter and a few tools and you need to take some time to learn a few things OR you can drop the car off at a dealership and have your checking account balance RAPED repeatedly, if you refuse to learn how to repair and maintain your corvette personally.
Look, I get questions like this all the time, and the fact is that the only way youll know if its practical to just replace the cap and rotor or theres a need to replace the whole unit is by YOU taking it out,and closely inspecting its internal and external condition, and if required testing components, and only then when you have FACTS that you can used to base your decision on, deciding if its in good mechanical and electrical, condition, where a simple clean and replace with a new cap and rotor is a smart course of action, or if its so worn or corroded that its silly not to replace the unit.
theres a ton of easily accessed info and we can answer questions, you really need a shop manual, and a few tools, and a good camera and the ability to post clear detailed pictures sure helps!
and yes it may look difficult or intimidating, but its just not that hard to do correctly if you take your time and read up on whats required
