My Power Choice

My 96 Vette is auto with 3.07 diff. With 56k miles and a bit of basic work to get it up to par, it runs great. I will be only using this as a daily driver, but I would like a bit more power for the fun factor especially for road trips through a bit of rural driving options. As a basis I don't want to change the torque converter and will stick with the cast iron exhaust, which will be ported as I have read Vizard reports this makes a significant improvement. Also will delete the cats.

So now the options. I am strongly considering the Lloyd Elliot Stage1 head porting and the 218/224 0.57in high lift cam, with roller rockers. Appears this should add approx 100rwhp.

Does this sound like a proper combination given my basis, have I missed anything, do you recommend an alternate?

Thanks.. Charlie

youll gain power with the mods listed,
but Id seriously doubt that the result will reach a 100 hp gain
if you figure 8-12 hp for the roller rocker and maybe 30-35 for the cam swap,
I doubt the head porting and exhaust porting work on the stock exhaust, manifolds
without significant other upgrades on the exhaust system
,like going 3" full length, an x pipe and better flowing than stock mufflers,
including the removal of the cats will quite reach that 100 hp gain threshold,
youll notice the improvements ,
but Id be more inclined to not think it's going to be worth a full 100hp gain,
especially without an injector size upgrade,
youll need about a 32 lb rated injector set to run at a 430 hp level

be aware your starting out with about 330 hp if you have an LT1 vs an LT4

I think a rear gear change would help the most such as a 3:73 and see what that would do for your pep. If you plan to drive it on Interstates and such, just go with the engine mods.
