Mystery port on transmission

Grump:

Had my 1967 Cutlass 442 up in my neighbor's lift to do some work.. As I was prowling around under the car, I noticed a tube (about a 1/4" tube) coming out of the top of the transmission case. The car has the original TH 400 transmission. I have a photo of a similar trans showing this tube . I searched and searched my shop manual, but no explanation of this.

What is it .. where does it go ??

Thanks

Craig

I stole this off a different site because its far easier than trying to re-post the same info

Port one is vacuum from manifold source,(modulator valve) I think #7 is the kickdown/passing gear cable, hooks to the Carb linkage,#8 and #9 are the trans cooler line hookups supply and return,#4 is Dipstick tube hole,
#10? that's generally a pressure relief port that's usually not hooked to anything (its just a VENT)

Thanks Grump :

I'm glad it's just a vent and not something that my failure to connect would destroy the trans !! The TH400 in the 67 442 has one of those "switch-pitch" electric converters. So I was afraid it had something to do with that.

Peace of mind !!
