On the subject of restorations. I've been looking for how you get new metal finish and color but not buy a new part? The items are not painted, doesn't appear blasted, wire-wheeled or polished. Is there a chemical process? How are they getting stamped steel looking new? Seems like too much money if you have to buy new parts just for the look.
Is that gold rainbow look - like on power brake boosters done at a plating shop? plating is costing as much as the part being plated anymore. I got a price on several parts recently and they want more to plate then the official NOS part or the OE identical replacements (Air cleaner lid - correct oe $160, replated original $150 - Caddy front bumper $1250 new - $1400 replate
