new project...

thats MUCH BETTER!
We are all looking forward to lots of clear detailed pictures once you get home!
be very sure,
as a general rule with any new automotive toy,
(1) you check the oil, trans fluid or coolant and brake fluid levels
,(2) the tire pressure is correct in all 4 tires,
(3) verify the fan belts are in decent shape,
(4) verify that you have the ownership documentation, the required licences
and you test the brake function, before driving.
(5) start it up and let it idle for 10 minutes and check the oil pressure
and coolant temps.
(6) try shifting it into all gears.
(7) check the signal blinkers and head lights

Well, we have oooooone small problem. I intend to surprise the Missus with it. She saw a few samples of early C3 Corvettes online many months ago. She digs them and said she “could see herself driving one”. Those, as you know gentlemen, are magic words.

So: Don’t know when. Don’t know how... but for the moment it is under wraps in my garage till I find a nice opportunity to spring this on her.

This is also extremely frustrating for me.

At first glance it looks to be better than expected.

The carb is an AFB. I like that. But strangely the choke is stuck open. I didn’t have time to see why. It looks like it was purposely disabled. It’s is also running very rich. But again I’ve only driven it 2-300 feet in 45 degree weather. And only got to second gear.

The shifter seems very vague. Reverse is fiddly and tough to find.

Furthermore, timing wise, all of this seems to have come into a perfect storm. Tomorrow I have a natural, drug-tested, bodybuilding contest. Belgian finals. I can’t win, I know. I’m not good enough yet. But I am learning and improving. So the timing is such, I cannot be distracted.

The paint looks pretty damn good.

Steering and brakes felt fine for the few yards I drove it.

Sunday however I WILL find an excuse to examine.

Hmmm. Screw this. I’ll nip out for a new minutes now with a flashlight :p

If it was my new toy it would be on a lift or at least (4) 12 ton jack stands, up, off the shop floor about 24"
providing clearance,
so I could easily remove the wheels, and use a creeper, ,too inspect the brakes and slide under the car in general.
BTW from what I can see it looks, too be in, far better than average condition
CONGRATS

ssssssshhhhhhhhh !!!!! we have to keep our voices down so the misses can't hear ! ;)
