Newbie here from Calif.

I worked on a Auto Restoration shop last year. I was not there too long.
In The Middle Chicago Burbs.
Everyone got ripped off by the owner.
Everyone got charged $100,000 - $250k bill invoices.
Had me painting with cheapest single stage paint made.
No 2 K gun spray mix by me.
Rattle can. I made it look nice near perfect.
Felt real bad for the vehicle owners.

One was a 1970 Chevy C10 pickup.

Yeah I watch a lot of the TV vehicle restoration shows and see what some people have been charged from them "So Called Car Restoration Shops" and in the end they got *** S C R E W E D *** real badly. Them Business Owners really don't have a "Heart" just a hole in there heart that they need to fill with the money they Rip off from there customers. Them kind of people (opps saying they are people that word needs changed to A holes) are making it hard for the Honest Restro Shops to get there business form the guy who just wants his dream to come full circle or to come true.

we get hurricanes in florida theres earth quakes in california, and absurd taxes in many places, thats what a bit of planing and insurance is for,
if you worry about what might happen , you might want to buy an abandoned minute man missile silo and convert it into a bunker, build on solid high ground,
and think through the location, you need good drainage, access to local utilities and personal services within a reasonable range of driving.
when I built 25 years ago it was a 30 minute drive to a grocery or gas station, I wanted to be rural, and on 5 acres, now its about a 6 minute to either
I purchased the land I wanted to retire on out in the boondocks 50 plus years ago
and only retired and built my home and shop about 20 years ago.
in florida its smart to build on higher ground , and at least 20-25 miles inland from the closest ocean.

Yeah having to dig a hole in the ground and crawling into it every time the Sirens goes off isn't good for your nerves. I know you all know I live in Calif. where Earth Quakes do happen from time to time but most of them in the past don't compare to having a Tornado wipe the town you live in right Off the Map. Again not trying to ruffle some feathers here just not a life for me.

I am in upper central Illinois. 100 miles from Chicago.
I hate tornadoes.
Rick sees them more in Oklahoma.

You could not pay me to live in Florida with all the Hurricanes.
Grumpy is in the middle safe zone.
Only spot not wiped away by recent hurricanes.

There is a Corvette mechanic down in Southern Florida.
His C5 Corvette has been under water 2 times now.

Not in a Million yrs Oklahoma are you crazy, move there where at any time in the windy/stormy season a "Freight Train"....... let me say that again......... a Freight Train" of Wind comes along and wipes you all out that's not my idea of living.
I think you are over stating the facts, but that doesn't matter if that's what you believe. All
you see is the network TV news.

In my 65 years, I've never laid eyes on an actual tornado. Now that's not to say I've never been
in one and I mean just one, but it's not like they are going up and down all the streets in
Oklahoma looking for people.

When I was a teenager quite a while ago we had a small and short in time that one touched the ground in one of South Bay inner Cities (Lawndale,CA) that wiped a hole block of about 15 houses right down to the ground that one was just a few blocks from us and yes we did see that one from our front yard, not a pretty sight for an 11 year old boy.

When I visited my daughter and family back in Harrah in 2010 there was "two" tornadoes that split or boarded around where they lived yet was close enough to see them three or so miles away. Needless to say I had to change my shorts after that day.

Guess it all depends on one's personal experiences that determines how they feel on
most any subject, including tornado.

Here you go Grumpy you ask for pics of my project. This is where I am today in whats being done to my truck. I will give you all a blow by blow short story of the pictures all at once as because of the number count we can only post at once, Here we go, 1, my truck on jack stands. 2, engine bay as how I bought the truck. 3, dismantling the front end- hood, fenders and core support removed all. 4, why the motor and trans has to come out- trans tunnel needs some welding and a patch. 5, inside and outside heater is now out for re building. 6, pic of heater. 7, inner fender well needing small patch welded in. 8 both inner fender wells done. 9, what the manual brakes looked like.10, 11 and 12 brakes completely re built.
Then the motor and trans will come out and that will make it easier to replace all the brake lines and the e-brake system as well. Then on to the trailing arms also needing a little welding to make them more stronger or at least as much as I can for something being 50+ yrs old, new adjustable trac bar, 4" lower coils, re building the rear brakes, checking on the rear axle bearings and such, removing the shock mounts and re designing them for a better angle. Then I move up to the front Suspension stuff- control arms upper and lower shaft kits, upper and lower ball joints, Steering stuff- inner and outer tie rods and adjusting sleeves, idler arm, pitman arm, new r/b power steering gear box from POL, auto steering column, brakes, new ms cylinder, core support mounting pads, sway bar. This will keep me going just for starters. I know that was a mouth full, now on to the pictures

After that I'll move on to inside the cab, installing the radio ( my truck was a radio delete) then a new 3 point retractable seat belts and the center belt system, then new under dash heater hoses with a new heater controls panel (non ac unit) that's what "wing windows" are for a no AC trucks LOL, then a new gas tank sending unit and new larger fuel lines (3/8") for a now V8 (original 6cyl 3OTT), then a re conditioned gauge cluster, still thinking on a new wiring harness as the fuse box isn't the best looking kinda rusty in some places. And yes I know there will be more sh!t that will pop up like broken this and broken that stuff hidden sh!t you don't see you know what I mean. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

thank you, the pictures make understanding what your working on far easier to understand
