Newer Gen 6 Bbc Engine Leaks Oil

I have a Gen 6 big block - with the oil dipstick that goes into the pan instead of the block. I got a factory truck disptick and tube from AC Delco, and I think the pan might be a relatively cheap Spectra model. I have an oil leak over about 3500 RPMs which I'm pretty sure is oil being blown out around that dipstick-tube-to-pan location (the engine is still very new - under 400 miles - so may have a bit more blow-by than it hopefully will eventually).

I went into the Chevy dealership a couple of days ago and found that there's an o-ring which is supposed to be on that dipstick tube which oddly didn't come with either the stick or the pan. They charged me $15 (sigh), but it doesn't seem like that seals particularly well. There's still an oil leak at higher RPMs, though I'm telling myself that it's not as bad so I can feel better about paying that much for an O-ring. :D

Does anyone know if this is a common problem? Is there a better seal, or is this oil pan / dipstick just poorly-made junk?

in theory the pcv system should keep the crank case pressure negligible and no the dip stick should not leak oil.
Id put the vehicle up on a lift and look for the source of the oil leak with a bright light while its running in neutral

have a seemingly-working PCV on the driver's side (hooked to manifold vacuum using a tee on the brake booster line) and a push-in breather on the passenger side valve cover hole. The ball in the PCV rattles around when the engine is off, and the valve sucks my finger up to it pretty firmly while the engine is idling.

if you were local Id suggest stopping bye , but again, put the vehicle on a lift and get a bright light and verify the leak source as a first step
guessing is always a waste of time
