No oil or coolant temp reading

I have swapped in a carberated engine and now have no ecm readout on my cluster for oil temp. or coolant. The rest of it is showing data, rpm, mph, fuel and oil pressure. The fans don't come on as a result to cool rad.Is it something in the ECM that does not relay info after injectors, oxgen sensor, throttle position,MAT and egr are deleted? It in a 1985 automatic.I am stumpped???

your most likely going to need to replace the sensors and possibly the gauges with new matched sets ,for those to read correctly, if you disconnected the original sensors and wiring controlling those gauges

keep in mind theres DOZENS OF DIFFERENT CHEVY TEMP SENSORS, for OIL AND COOLANT AND AIR, SO BE SURE YOU SELECT THE ONE DESIGNED TO MATCH YOUR GAUGE AND APPLICATION

how many of you gentlemen go to a computer, print out related wiring diagrams ,get out a multi meter and a shop manual and actually read the shop manual, and step thru the indicated testing procedures? check for voltage ohms resistance, loose connections, etc. and have actually used the shop manual, multi meter and printed wiring diagrams ans instructions to isolate and solve a problem on your car?
ITS NOT ALWAYS EASY BUT IT SURE BEATS RANDOM GUESS WORK EVERY DARN TIME

THE DIAGRAM ABOVE HAS THE CORRECT WIRE COLORS FOR THE 1996 CORVETTE
the earlier c4 corvettes had a simplier wire diagram for fans

Thanks for responding Grumpy. I have the original sensors installed in the new engine with the wiring to both sensors hooked up the way it came from the factory.Nothing different just no readout.Do you think I should install new gauges and a fan swich independant and be done with it? I have to be able to know these perameters to be safe with the new engine. Maybe a pillar mount for oil temp and another for coolant temp is my solution. Just can't figure out why the original sensors will not register any reading on the digital dash. Both of them are temperature related so I am confused as to what may have caused the ECM to check out? thanks

Ive seen the sensors and dash gauges work just fine on several big block engine swaps, and I have seen similar issues that your describing,on cars like your 1985 corvette,On my 1985 corvette I had the battery disconnected for about 4 months when I built my first 383 sbc, when I reconnected the battery the dash gauges failed to function, the gauges were toast and needed to be replaced (remember that dash is 28 years old, and delicate electronics made in one of the first few years production, and well known for having issues) in your case the easy answer is installing new sensors and gauges , but I'm reasonably sure your dealing with a defective sensor or bad connection on the old sensors,as they go bad easily, especially if they get removed and reinstalled, and obviously the ecm could be defective or damaged, or a connector plug could be loose or corroded, but that's a bit less likely, if think about it there's no way the car computer knows what engine the sensors are installed into, but connections and sensor locations and sensors themselves can be either defective or mounted in the wrong location
