Nostalgia 660 center squirter with 850 basepates

I have two 660 Holleys with 850 baseplates. A gentleman who is a carb guru told me that my carbs were junk because the choke horn had been cut down to close to the boosters. He said that the air would skirt around the boosters and they would not have perform like they were suppose too. I asked him if that is true why are all the new carbs made the same way? I did not get an answer. So I am asking can these carbs be made to work better with downleg boosters or what is the answer to using them? I tried posting a photo but I can't get it to work.

with proper tuning and selecting the correct matched parts,
the carb you have can be made to work very effectively, if its basically in good condition.

The carbs have been tanked in carb cleaner and are as clean as you can get them. My concern is there any truth to the choke horn being cut to low to affect the boosters. I feel like the gentlemen was trying to sell me two new carbs instead of working on what I all ready have. I wish I could post pics, but it does not take the URL for some reason.

the result of milling the choke horn is negligible to its performance usage, if anything it marginally improves flow rates if it was correctly done

There is no part of the choke horn left between the front two barrels and the two rear barrels. His point was there should have been about 1/2" left between the front and rear to keep the air from going around the booster instead of through it. Other than that these two carbs are basically like the ones in Paul Blevins reprint of the 660 mods. I have removed the transfer tube and tapped the front and rear bowls 9/16-24 threads to accept fuel fittings and plug the transfer holes with 1/8" pipe plugs. Now all they need as far as I know are two rebuild kits.

Once you upload the file, then you should see them. If you don't do anything, then they simply
appear at the end of your post. Can you do a screen shot of the problem, then paste it into your post?

I edited my post in the link to more correctly reference those step numbers in the first graphic
2a and 2b. Sorry for the confusion this may have caused. Does this fix the problem for you now
or does it still appear without the "Thumbnail" and "Full Image" in Step 4?

I don't find anything in the permissions that would stop you from posting photos.

Are you using Firefox for your browser?

Try a different browser and see what happens.
