Ive used them frequently with ZERO bad results, and it does eliminate the engines detonation tendency when used correctly but its not cheap and its not something youll want to brew up daily due to cost, you could easily pay $15 a gallon or more for some additives, and race gas is usually priced significantly lower if your only useing a gallon or two of fuel at the track occasionally, your probably best buying race gas rather than trying to boost the average octane rating on your street high test
