I can’t get over the snarky attitude people feel they must put into their adds. Here is verbatim an ad to sell suitecase weights on CL:

<“THIS AD IS NOT A SOLICITATION OF YOUR OPINION!

<GET YOUR WIFE'S PERMISSION PRIOR TO CONTACTING ME!!!!!

<IF YOU ARE READING THIS AD THEN THE ITEM IS STILL FOR SALE SO DONT BE AN ASS AND ASK ME IF IT IS!

<SOLD AS IS WHERE IS, NO WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED!

<ITEM LOCATION IS 19014

<I'M NOT A WORLD MAP, I DO NOT KNOW HOW FAR YOU ARE FROM ME!

<CASH IS KING

<COME WITH IT OR NOT AT ALL

<NO SHIPPING, NO CHECKS, NO THIRD PARTY PICK UP, NO SOLICITING, DONT PICK YOUR NOSE IN FRONT OF ME!!”

I wonder how they would react if stores they dealt with put this in their ads?

I especially like it when you list the cash price for a part / tool, etc.
they call, ask a dozen questions and they arrive 3 hours late after
having agreed too the price, of lets say a $150 ,
you waited and had several other people ask about the part/tool,
and then they say, on arrival
look Im $20 to $40 short, I had to buy gas on the way over will you take ($X)

A few years ago I picked up an 8 ft Woods brushhog cheap at an auction. I thought I could flip it and make a couple bucks and listed it on CL. A few people called on it fast, one couple really wanted it, said it was a fair price and high-tailed it out here from 2 hours away.
They low-balled me and I said no way! On their way home they called me and offered me even less then their first lowball an hr earlier. I asked what part of “no-way!” did you miss? I hung up on the guy. The next day the ass-hole called back asking me if it was sold, the offered me another few hundred less than his last price!
In retrospect I should have said sure! Bring cash and you can have it, but I wasn’t fast on my feet that day!

The second guy traveled with his trailer and tractor intow from the far opposite side of the state near Pittsburgh. His story is that machines out where he lives is much more expensive and few are up for sale. But that didn’t stop him from looking and picking everything apart. I was so fed up with selling this mower I just let him have it - for $50 less then what I paid. This is CL people!
