Oil galley plugs in a 1992 gen I sbc

I have a 1992 gen I block and the oil galley holes are .570 on the sides and .500 in the middle hole. Is this common on the newer blocks? This was a GM rebuilt engine for a 87 el camino I picked up for my vega project. Less than 5000 miles and the crank was scorred so I pulled it down and had the block cleaned. Every engine I build I always Tap and Plug the galley in front but this one has thrown me for a loop. The local Chevy dealer told me he doesn't have the plugs and I would have to order them and buy a box lot. Any suggestions on this. Should I order the plugs and stake them ? Will a 3/8 plug be too thick and block the oil passage? HELP !

many guys fail to realize the huge amount of grease, dirt sediments, and metallic trash, sealants and gasket fragments that can and frequently are trapped in the blocks oil passages oil coolers connecting lines, push rods, oil pumps oil pans etch that will REQUIRE a MANDATORY high pressure cleaning with a pressure washer, solvent soak, brush and high pressure air with a long reach air nozzle.

milodon sells plug kits call summit, a THIN oil plug is required the style sold at plumbing stores is much to long and will block the oil passages

I bought the milodon kit from Summit, it only comes with the standard plugs and they are too way too small. A 1/4 tap won't even touch the walls of the hole. Thats why i had to go to the dealer nobody has the larger plug. not Summit, Jeg's , or even Speedway .
