Grumpy I just earned the idiot of the year award I changed oil on my 2015 F150 3.5 ecoboost engine after changing everything I noticed I put a 5 quart jug of 5w-20 & 1 quart of 5w-30 the engine calls for 5w-30 can I at least run it for a couple miles then do a quick change back to 5w-30 the oil is Mobil 1 full synthetic so this was about a 60 dollar brain dead move

Ray, just run that oil out until the next change is due, you're not racing this truck are you? It's not the dog days of Summer either. So your will be fine.

what was your oil pressure like on the factory spec oil?

Good oil pressure is about 10psi per 1,000 RPM on a gasoline engine, to a limit of about 55-60 psi, after that the bypass valve opens on the pump and sends some oil back to the pan to prevent seal blow out and leaks.

No I really take it easy on it what I can't believe is I did it. I was in Wal Mart shopping & they had oil on sale I grabbed the right oil 1st then put it back to get the other brand I forget what kind but it was name brand then I decided for a dollar on a 5 Quart jug I'll go with Mobil 1 the quart I got with it was the right weight. I have been having a rough week Rich everything I do is wrong ( just ask the old lady) this is my worst mistake yet. I guess I'm not supposed to have a slow work week I screw everything up. How are you doin anyways Rich? Everything OK? I'm ready to take a run out there any time to get a look at things when you are ready before the winter rush. It went down to 55 the other night & I got 8 calls in a row from the same lady thinking she was going to freeze to death that day it was 89 degrees. Welcome to the life of an HVAC guy

Thanks Rich & Grumpy I thought I would be OK but needed a second opinion I will do a quicker than normal change this time around to punish myself for being stupid

Please believe me when I say you're just wasting your money, oil and your time over a non issue.

I'm a human Guinea Pig for 9 days beginning on Monday and getting physically prepped starting this Friday.
Johns Hopkins University. They used my DNA to synthesize joint cartilage that will mate up to the bone and compatible synovial fluid. What started as CAD drafting to custom match each knee, the lab finished in 3D tissue growth off of lab grown bone material, all in layman's terms. A 30 min operation on each knee ( orthoscopic) and a series of injections (3) over 9 days. If it works I could be delaying years before conventional joint replacements are needed. Btw, a robotic arm does most of the work, including the exacting injections. I don't know what my wife's schedule will be for you Ray. Brb.

Good luck Rich I hope all that helps I'm wanting to take a ride out to look at the job because its October already. Where in the hell did this miserable summer go? LOL

please let us know in DETAIL how that knee joint work, helps or fails as I'm fairly sure I'm headed in that similar direction due to knee pain

I surely will. At first it was going to be just 3 shots in each knee of Syngel, artificial joint lubricant, but since my knee joint is bone rubbing directly on bone the steroid shots work for a week before all the pain returns, I researched other means and joined this trial. I still have to pay for some of it.
