Hello everyone
new to the forum and I am an a fortunate owner of an old 1965 corvette. I found her in a garage abut a year and a half ago. She had been resting for 27 years. YES...not moved an inch in 27 years. The previous owner had her stop one night as he was driving to work. He had the car towed and put her in the garage to never see light again until recently. He never found the problem and that is where I come in. The second owner told me the story and decided that it was time to let someone else treat her right. I bought her, pushed her to my house (it was hiding under my nose) and spent some time getting all her mechanical items rebuilt or replaced. I did all the work myself except for the top.. what you will see is the old girl back on the road and everything works. Thank to the folks running VINs for me as I am working towards purchasing a new corvette to match the old girl.. Here she is..

i will dig some pictures off the other computer and put those up tomorrow. the car stopped running because the first owner had a cut off switch in the car..HIDDEN of course. The second owner poked every wire with a tester tring to find 12v. when I tore the car down I found the switch, traced it back to a section of the wiring harness, found an inline fuse that was blown. That is all that kept the old girl off the road for 27 years. she has a TRUE 1970 LT1 with less than 2K miles on her. I have used my daughters i touch with dynolicious loaded and run a quarter in 12.47 seconds.. yeah they are close to the real time but 1-2 tenths off the real deal. The old solid lifter motor reving to the moon is a sound that must be heard. I promise to get some pictures up before I go away on Sat for vacation... still hoping to pick up the Z or the older FRC if things work out.. you wont believe how I found her and what she looked like after two good washes with ivory soap and a round witht he clay bar.. The video was after a good winter and many session with the buffer.. I have the original 65 hood and the 67 BB hood, a 67 hardtop in perfect cond...and a period correct (non original to the car though) 65 350HP 327 which is what the car originally came with...i wont revel how much but it would make you cry and say "why cant I find a deal like that"

if you think a simple (BLOWN FUSE is bad) Ive got a buddy that bought a road runner from a guy that stated the ignition stopped working back in about 1990 so he parked the car and for 11 years,in the back of his garage , covered it with a car cover and tarp, and basically ignored it until he decided to move, to a new house, he never worked on it, he was a mopar guy with a yard full of old muscle cars, at the time he parked the car, and it was not his favorite car, as it got crummy mileage with a 440 v8, my friend , made him a ridiculously low offer, of $2K, and towed the car home , replaced the oil,fuel tank, fuel, coolant, trans fluid, spark plugs, wires and battery,and found the ignition key would not turn, putting the car up on a lift to check the wiring he noticed a magnetic key box on the inside of the rear bumper, he found the key, it turned in the ignition, the cars ignition worked fine, it turned out the previous owner was trying to use the wrong ignition key he says he still to this day regrets, selling that road runner , because within days of getting it started a guy followed him into a gas station and offered him almost 3 times what he had into the car........its currently worth a good deal more
Jack, (one of my freinds) has wanted a C4 corvette or a american motors AMX for years but never seems to find any deals, he mentioned that last time he was over and I pointed out that if he keeps looking thru CRAIGS LIST and THE BARGAIN TRADER,and ASKING FRIENDS if they know anyone with a C4 or AMX for sale,he will EVENTUALLY FIND a decent deal.
but just standing around bitching about it won,t generally produce results, within days, he found a 1984 with a seized engine but a decent body/interior for $1400 he towed it home and now hes accumulating parts, and saving the cash to buy a new engine.....you will seldom find deals on old muscle cars or corvettes,cobras etc, unless you keep looking and asking questions
