one of the local guys adapted an efi intake , he found at a local swap meet,
to carb use, it looked like crap, with rust stains and old flaking paint,
but it cleaned up nicely with a pressure washer,
(he was thrilled as it cost him only $120)
he simply taped over the lower fuel injector exit holes and filled the injector mounting holes with J&B epoxy,
once it hardened he just used it as a carb intake
he then used the intake he modified with zero issues , on his high compression
(9.4:1) 454 BBC with peanut port heads,
with a 850 cfm Holley cab in his 1957 chevy truck, he has headers and a fairly radical for peanut port heads,
flat tappet hydraulic cam,
(yeah he swapped to an adjustable valve train and new valve springs)(and I think he said he swapped too new push rods)
the result was a very noticeable power increase over the original dual plane low rise,
and that old intake was heavy as all get out ....
cast iron intake it replaced
.(that had to weight 40 plus lbs)
frankly, I'm rather amazed that more people don,t take advantage of this potential source for intake manifolds.
he stated it had a very noticeable power increase as a result.
