Should I use a gasket sealer on this type of water pump gasket???

Is this gasket about 1/2 way out ???

I have a slow oil leak that might be coming from this gasket. I'm thinking about pulling it out and cleaning real good and squirting some silicone sealer in there.

that water pump gasket do not need rtv or silicon, the red bead stuff will do the job.
I have no idea for the intake gasket but to me it look wrong like that.

That's kinda what I thought about the gasket, the red border is soft and should make a seal. The old gasket was just paper.

The water pump gasket is meant to be installed Dry Rick.
On a gasket like similar I use Permatex Aviation Gasket Dressing Sealer.
Similar to the Permatex 300 M Gasket sealer Grumpy prefers.
The black intake manifold seal I would not pull out & squirt silicone sealer in.
It may ooze out & drop into intake lifter valley.
Cause headaches such as a locked up oil pump.
Remove intake & fix correct.
Or clean outsidr surface of blick China wall & put a thin film of your favorite silicone sealer.
Ultra Gray is my preference today. Sets up Firm & bonds strongs.

I still use Gasginch gasket sealer at times too.
Edelbrock sells it.
Very old school but still works great on paper gadkets & cork gaskets like found on Pontiac & Olds V8's.

I chickened out and didn't pull the gasket out. Although it looks loose, it was actually stretching. I cleaned it with automotive paint thinner a couple of time, then sprayed it real good with brake cleaner. So I did like you suggested and put some Permatex Black RTV Hi-Temp that I had on the outside. I can only get to the top side, but if it slows it down any that will be a big help.

I have been making repairs to our daily drivers here too Rick.
Winter cold weather here in midwest.
Let it snow I suppose. The K1500 Suburban is ready.

I've been going to Houston to see my sister for Thanksgiving for nearly 10 years now, but the Park Avenue started over heating just a couple of days before I was going to leave last Wednesday. Filled it up with coolant, but it went down again. So I had to cancel my trip this year.

Oh well, what can you do! ;)

i like permatex ultra black for anything in oil or threebond 1194 for stuff that has contact with gas(like moto cases)
Next time i may try, therightstuff. it seem good.

Snow is here already, all vehicul are ready.
