penn makes semi auto hunting rifles legal to hunt with now

I think thats a very good improvement, it shows in my opinion that the state game dept. bureaucracy, has a more positive view of hunters in general,
I know of a couple people that had a chance to hunt PENN,
and went someplace else simply because of that law, in the past.
(and the odd part is neither guy even owns a semi-auto hunting rifle)
they just felt that hunters were not going to be looked at like the source of extra economic, boost to the local economy and that financial, potential and that the $1000s they would spend , over a few weeks on restaurants hotels, gas, groceries, sporting goods and automotive supplies, etc. was not appreciated.
I know that when I go to COLORADO , too hunt, its obvious that the locals are well aware of the major economic influx ,
even if they may not be thrilled with the extra traffic,
and longer lines at the groceries stores etc.
and yeah I like their humor/grasp on the few morons they see also

So that's what I've been hearing every Saturday afternoon! There's a Scout leader about 10 miles through the woods from my place that is heavy into guns that fires off a semi and another gun that is louder then any gun I ever heard, could that be a muzzle loader?
As for this featured riffle, it's on my official Xmas list now, but I really need a bigger, better gun safe and cabinet. Guns and hunting is very big in PA, there would be hell to pay if gun control got any worse here!

I'm still up in the air on this one I don't want to be out there with someone being able to fire lots of rounds at anything that moves . And I'm talking deer hunting here I all ready see enough idiots out there who shouldn't be

Amen brother! I have guys hunting on my property that don't have my permission and using my neighbor's tree stands. Last year a hunter got a good buck right within the first 5 acres behind my house, that's too close! I don't hunt so I would just use the semi auto rifle for playtime.

There will always be a scant few idiots that abuse any privilege or even RIGHT!
in florida we had a few idiots back in the early 1960-1970s using semi auto military style rifles to hunt with,
and a HUGE bunch of would-be commandos, who used millions of cartridges shooting cans in road side improvised shooting ranges,
training for a second BAY OF PIGS /CUBA invasion
,
out in almost any remote rural area.
that use by a few individuals was giving those rifles a bad reputation
,
(keep in mind there were very few hunting accidents)
you had a MUCH greater chance of being killed by some drunk driver on the way to and from hunt areas
BUT,since you could hear the shots for miles,
and damn few people bothered to find out if it was hunters,
or some guy target shooting, back in camp after having a few beers at lunch,

as some yahoo would unload a stream of bullets on beer cans in a road side ditch!
"HUNTERS" got the blame,
yet very few hunters WERE using one, of those DREADED SEMI AUTOS,
on a deer or hog ,and the few that were using more than one or at most two or three shots, were very rare.
it was the sound of the shots you could hear for miles, making everyone in ear shot nervous,
naturally many people were concerned about being hit by random and poorly aimed shots......
the result was a change in regulations to a magazine limit of 5 cartridges for hunting,
and local laws making it illegal in most areas to fire a gun within several hundred yards of a road

keep in mind I have a great many hunting friends and Id bet serious money,
that the vast majority of those heard, rural cascade of shot strings were not hunters,
but bored guys shooting beer cans back in camp sites or fish in canals.
once those laws were being enforced the "problem" dissipated,
I can,t even remember the last time,
I heard a string of more than 3 shots while out hunting !

now I'm certainly not against the use of military style semi-auto rifles for hunting
in fact I think its a great idea, as it promotes familiarity with the rifles function ,
and practice makes for better accuracy
so I don,t think theres any need for further restrictions as statistics show .
the amount of hunters shot ACCIDENTALLY

WITH ANY SEMI AUTO , THAT the MEDIA ALWAYS LISTS AS AN ASSAULT RIFLE
ranks much lower than people think

Fact: Firearm misuse causes only a small number of accidental deaths in the U.S. 1 For example, compared to being accidentally killed by a firearm, you are:

    • Five times more likely to burn to death
    • Five times more likely to drown
    • 17 times more likely to be poisoned
    • 17 times more likely to fall to your death
    • And 68 times more likely to die in an automobile accident

Don't get me wrong I love ARs & AKs and the limit will maybe be a 5 round mag. but its the idiots that will be carrying the 30 rounder in his back pocket that worries me. If we were all responsible ethical hunters I wouldn't care if you used a bazooka or an M1 Abrams tank just don't kill me in the process. On the first day of buck season there was someone behind me that fired 9 shots they were spaced into about 15 to 20 minutes total and you could tell they were moving by the sounds of fire. I'm pretty sure from the sound it was a slug gun but I'd hate to see a deer that took 9 slugs I never seen the hunter but he was closer to me than I wanted him to be

I think youll find a few guys, in PENN, who rush out too buy new semi-auto rifles,
The vast majority will see this as a non-issue and after the liberal news media posts its inevitable, editorials,
trying to picture scores of bleeding corpse's, stacked on every rural road side, and ankle deep blood in the streets
(WHICH OF COURSE NEVER HAPPENS) it will be a total non-issue,
I'm one of the very few guys that I know that occasionally hunts with a semi auto, and its not that I need a fast follow -up shot,
its simply that I like to try out every rifle I own hunting

IMG_0734.JPG Wow! South Park is 20 years old now, seems longer.
I like Mr Hankey, used to have a foot tall Mr. Hankey on my desk at work until the County Solicitor made me put it away.

If you put that ^
on your desk, I'd suspect the manager was convinced,
thats pushing HARD on the border of insanity

Not a manager, a Solicitor is a lawyer. In this case he was the lawyer for the County Commisioner and his board of Suppervisors. He was opposed to my application and it final approval to cary a conceled weapon to work. So he stopped in to be a warning for me.

Mr. Hankey, It was actually a gift from the DA's office thanking me for eliminating "a lot of shit" cases from making their dockets. At that time I didn't even know what it was, some social worker got a kick out of it and the card attached. Later it was stolen by a cleaning person.
