put the transmitter fob about 40 ft from the vehicle. turn your ignition on. press the trip/odo button twice. within 5 seconds press the fuel info button and hold until the passive keyless entry light comes on on the idiot lights. turn the key off and the 'pke' light should be blinking. you have 2 mins to get the key fob transmitter to the car and within range. when it enters the range the pke light should stay on. repeat for more fobs.
if the light does not stay on, the fob could be bad or your going through what i am...they fob is good an already programmed to the vehicle.

I've also seen several posts when the transmitter would operate the passenger's door and rear hatch but not unlock the driver's door. When this happens the PKE is turned off. You can check this by turning on the Ignition and checking to see if Passive Keyless lights up on the DIC. The owner's manual says that all you have to do is hold the door button until the locks cycle to turn it On. I've noticed that it doesn't always work. I think it works better to have the doors closed. Can anyone confirm this?

5. Different keyfobs. There are two different styles, one for the Coupes and one for the Convertibles. The difference is that the Coupes have a second button for the rear hatch. I have a Convertible and bought a Coupe fob. I can release the deck cover with the Hatch Release button. Convenient if I'm on the passenger side and need to pop it. The next time I'd probably just get the Convertible one as I seem to accidentally bump the Hatch button too often.

6. Where to buy PKE fobs.
Your local dealer: Expect to pay premium price.

ebay: As with all ebay expirences yours will vary. If you're lucky you'll get a functioning fob for a decent price. If not, well..

GM Parts Direct : You will need the part numbers. Part number for coupe is 10282929 and convert. is 10282930.I have seen some different part numbers listed. Price as of 10-17-2204 was $88.52 plus $17.72 for shipping & handling.

To program the fob;
Very important: Make sure the new fob is AWAY from the car (10 meters or so) then put the key in the ignition and turn it on (don't start the engine).
Press the trip/odo button twice then the fuel info button once. The pke light should come on. Turn the key off but LEAVE IT IN THE IGNITION. The pke light should now be on continuously.
Now bring the fob close to the car and the light should blink. If you have only one fob, turn the ignition off. If you have more than one, leave the ignition on and move the first fob away then bring the second close within a few seconds. Up to three fobs may be programmed.
Once programmed, the pke may be turned off by having the key out of the ignition then holding down the fob's door button for 2+ seconds until the locks cycle (when close to the car and doors closed). When the pke is turned off this way, the light on the dash never comes on, even when the key is first switched on.
To change between unlocking only the driver's door or both doors, put the key in the ignition (leave it off) and hold the door button on the fob down for 2+ seconds until the locks cycle. The manual doesn't say this but I think this also changes the fob sensor in the passenger door. If the fob is set to driver's door only, the sensor in the passenger door doesn't seem to work. So you must approach the driver's door or the rear of the car for the fob to unlock the driver's door.
The fob must be dangled so it swings like a pendulum for it to unlock the doors. If it's horizontal and essentially motionless, it may not unlock the doors.
By the way, '97 or newer fobs won't work with a C4.
Hope this helps.

It's pretty easy to do:

Key in ignition turn to ON not Start. (Remove transmitter from key ring.)

Move the transmitter greater than 10 feet from the vehicle (both if you have two).

Press the TRIP/ODO button on the DIC twice.

Within 5 seconds push and hold the FUEL/INFO button until the PKE light on the DIC comes on and begins flashing.

Turn the key to OFF that is not the lock position. (If you go to far and go to lock just start over again.)

Bring one transmitter into range and when the PKE light stops flashing the transmitter is programmed. (I like to just walk up to the back and look thru the rear window at the DIC and you can see it stop flashing.)

If you have a second one, move the first one back out of range and bring the second one into range again when the PKE light stops flashing the other transmitter is programmed.

Turn the key to ON or Off and remove the key.

Your done. (Test them.)

A tip if your not aware, key out of ignition and door closed, press and hold the door button on the transmitter until the locks cycle and it turns off PKE, repeat the same procedure and it cycles the locks and turns it back on. Helpful when turning it in for service or just working around the vehicle.

If you put the key in the ignition and press and hold the door button on the transmitter it will cycle the locks and select one of a couple modes, lock driver door only, lock both doors, etc.
