"hey grumpyvette?
What procedure product or product(s) do you recommend to clean clear plastic headlight lens covers ? The ones on my current car are very "foggy, blurry, cloudy almost milky in appearance". Do the plastic lens cleaners really work? Is there a better street lighting at night when you're done cleaning the head light lens covers

you can make this as complicated and as expensive as you care too, or as easy and cheap as you want to, the truth is that the oxidation on plastic head lights is usually only on the lens surface and very easy to polish off, but the surface of the lens is easily damaged so use your brain and think it thru, do not, repeat do not use excess muscle, or power tools and solvents,as you can easily damage the lens surface.
you might be amazed at what you can accomplish clearing up oxidized plastic head lights with a old empty plastic gallon milk bottle, refilled with warm water ,mixed with a table spoon of dawn dish wash detergent, and a 1/4 cup of Windex and a sheet of 1500 grit wet/dry sand paper cut into 2" squares ,used on those plastic lenses, used too restore the clear finish, just constantly dribble the soapy water on the lenses as you rub only in one direction, (back and forth either vertically or horizontally) youll probably need a gallon of solution on each lens, just keep the surface wet with flowing soapy water as you polish. this will remove the vast majority of the oxidized plastic surface, then youll want to use a damp/wet a soft cloth with a mild abrasive , I used BLUE MAJIC LENS CLEANER on a soft cloth like denim to remove the micro scratches, "I Ve also USED CREST BRAND TOOTH PASTE on my MERCURY in the past " this will result in the lenses still looking much cleaner but still a bit fogged due to millions of micro scratches, simply clean with clear water and a soft towel, let dry and spray and polish the lens with a good car wax, and polish the surface, you can use rainx glass cleaner , over the wax, as it seals the micro scratches resulting in much improved lens

you'll find about 5-7 minutes work on each headlight lens will clear up the finish, and yes you may need to repeatedly do this again every few years, especially in dusty or salty areas.

Ive purchased those head light restoration kits and they can cost $15-$25, Ive used those kits and don,t see much advantage over the results I see with a single sheet of 1500 grit wet/dry sand paper and a constant flow of soapy water
