heres good info, the only thing I do differently is that I smear the solvent glue all over the plug before insertion,(probably not necessary)

if the nails less than 3/16" and in the tread,plug it , in 40 plus years IVE only had or even seen 1-2 leak out of HUNDREDS
side walls are generally to thin and flexible so your screwed with a plug or a patch, it generally will leak so a new tires the recommended route
