Pontiac Rpm Vs Stock

Have to click on Watch on You Tube underscored underlined at bottom of Video link.
Broken the Feature picture shot from the video

I will try and find his Videos China Vs USA Made Intake manifolds For Chevy Small Block and Pontiac V8.
He does a really good job showing the huge differences in quality and near or impossible to correct Porting.

Pontiac iron 1967-72 ones desired most and later up to 1979 still work great too.
All patterned copied the design from the 1962 & 1963 SD 421 390 Hp Nascar 4-bbl engine.

this intake works great if you have the hood clearance and its the best Ive found in many applications IF IT WILL FIT
Ive used it and prefer it to all other pontiac intakes Ive tested.
an easy 20- 25 hp over stock intake in my tests

use of good heads also helps a great deal

roller rockers worth at least 15 extra hp there on the better heads

Some of the China intakes are so bad it's been shown to lose 80 hp over stock on Pontiac V8.
Rumble at idle but no go fast any.

Cliff Ruggles told me he tested every brand intake on his 1974 Pontiac Ventura 455 with a QJet at the race track and all but one lost power compared to his stock cast iron intake.

while I agree the stock intake is better than many people might think,
stock was optimized to match original combo,
the results tend to change if you have changed the CAM , HEADS, added headers ETC.

Cliff is playing around power levels I have in the 63 Pontiac with the 1976 455.
His own lighter car Ventura and he wants to Street drive easy.
Get to higher power levels better True Single plane Race intakes needed.
Need the plenum Volume and larger cross sections runners to support the 7000-9000 rpms with Hp well above 800.
They run them that high rpm Pontiac V8 now Racing Fast.

Victor Jr intake will only work on a 2nd Trans Am stock hood.
Have to lose the Factory shaker.
They make shaker kits but none flow enough air into to compete Fast Drag racing such as Today's No Prep time clocks off.
Let the it stick out of the shaker hole into the sky Grumpy !

Then early TA like mine so prized want to retain Factory shaker.
Compromises always we know too well.

Build a clone car or dont have Original any Be Ok to do what you want to Freely like Chevy.
But Chevy built Super Prized Factory Fast Muscle too

Just a hair under 900 cfm airflow into a An early Functional Trans Am Shaker hoodscoop with a K&N filter used.
What you have to work with only.
Of course we want much more.

Holley 4150 4-bbl will fit early TA Shakers.
Found a video recently about 7 years old 1 guy did it easily.
Near identical layout present in Gp.
Also able to take advantage of the True Fuel Log Return Fuel system I built used on the 63 Pontiac.
Just Superior Return True.
Deadhead has its limits I found out.

fake shaker plexi scoop would be cool
I just want to get my Old Street Race Car back together the 1970 Trans am RAIV 455 4-SPEED .
Functional Factory Shaker Hoodscoop for it is an important part of the character for the car. Historical Musclecar.
Need my Diamond Pistons yet and Trend wristpins or piston pins.
Discussed with Grumpy in past.
Want to get the order going and bought this winter.
$1500 to buy them.
I don't really care about being the fastest.
Together its Blazing Fast on the Streets.
Was the Fastest Street Race Musclecar on True Treaded tires in Illinois.
Able to drive 120-140 mph in the rain only a Corvette can do too. Well modern Dodge now.
Absolutely none could beat me Street Racing back in the days.
4-speed I know how to drive it and get 100% of the power to the ground.
It's like A Tubo 400 with a Trans brake but better.
Muncie 4-speed.
In case I die it's back together for my boys to have and use.
WW3 now.
Doomsday 2021.
Chad Speier knows too.
