I have noticed the Shortage of Vintage factory rebuilt casting of the 1969-79 Pontiac V8 Water Pumps for 350ci, 400, 428, & 455 engines with the Very Desirable Cast Iron Impeller.
It seems many are using the Available aluminium Pontiac V8 water pumps.
In my Research they are all China made.
It must satisfy many but not me.
If your out Racing or Street Racing and you have to make a Fast Getaway before 5.0 shows up a Leaking water pump or failed China bearing and your busted caught.
Risk a Blown Headgasket(s) too.

I found a nice used original 1969-79 Pontiac V8 Water Pump on Fleabay and bought it.

Edelbrock Water pump for a Pontiac V8 is probably top notch. Its expensive too.
Also Miezure has thier electric water pumps. But if the Alternator belt fails your SOL also soon.
The Way a Pontiac V8 is laid out you have a backup V -belt driving the water pump if one belt fails.
I have one NOS GM water pump for 1969-79 Pontiac V8.
Have a few used cores.
I am going to rebuild the cores so I have 3 for my 3 455's.
And backup spares.

I will add to this thread later.
For the Pontiac V8 guys.

The Flowcooler Water Pump is a China made casting.
Not what I want.

Only the earlier 8-bolt water pumps for 1963 mid year to 1968 326, 389, 400, 421, &428 readily available with factory cast housing and cast impeller.

I have a 1955-early 1963 4-bolt cast factory rebuilt made in the USA With V8 Cast Impeller put away.
Most found are Tempest 4. Close but different .

There is a 1969 NOS GM Pontiac V8 Water pump on Ebay.
You can own it for $499 bucks only.

The supply of Original 11-bolt Pontiac V8 water pumps with factory cast iron Impellers were difficult to find back in 1994 for me.
Millions were made by GM.
Most were replaced with stamped steel Impellers by the Rebuilders here in the USA.
I had to go through my local parts store shelves and hand pick through boxes of rebuilt water pumps.
After 50-100 I found One with a Cast Iron factory impeller.

In the LS Era now and even the BBC Is Dead by Younger Car guys and even Guys from Grumpys Old Guard Generation.

Its All BS.
STREET RACING PROVES ALL.
PONTIAC V8 I Love.
BCC I Like too.

Funny, during the summer between 10th and 11th grades I worked the 11pm to 8 am shift at a company called Blue Chip industries. They rebuilt water pumps, manual clutches and brake shoes. At the end of 3 months I could do every part of every process in the plant. I could still do the rebuilds today. I distinctly remember the Pontiac water pumps, I should have pilfered a few bearing seals and gaskets lol
In retrospect, that was not a difficult job and could be done on a small scale although they had large scale machines as they had cores coming by the truck loads.
