batterys fail for several reasons, obviously physical/mechanical damage is far different than one that's totally discharged
If youve tried to refresh a dead battery did you have any success?

If you have a gell cell that is dieing, try this.
I have done it 3 times with gell cells.
Take it out, turn it up side down for a day.
Now, still upside down trickle charge it for 24 hours.
Turn it right side up and finish the charge.
I have one that is 20 years old and it is still going , using this method.
