probably a silly question

I had bob drop by to borrow a few tools, yesterday and I needed to go to the local auto parts store for a case of oil, so he decided to ride along as he also needed a few minor supplies.
now I wear glasses because I just don,t like contact lenses.
I got into my 1996 corvette, fastened the seat belt, opened the arm rest and swapped my clear lenses glasses for dark prescription sun glasses , swapping the clear lens versions into the case in the arm rest,, yesterday, and my "friend" looked at me and asked if I always swap too sun glasses when I drive the corvette, then he said, "you know its kind of hopeless at your age to put on dark sun glasses to make you look COOL"
honestly the thought never entered my mind!
Im way past the age where being (COOL) ever enters my thoughts, If its sunny out I tend to drive with polarized sun glasses, if its dark out I use clear lenses that darken if left in the sun, "transition lenses" I think they are called,
so heres the question," how many guys, who wear glasses ,take the time too swap too polarized lens on sun glasses to drive on sunny days vs just jumping in the car and driving"

I wear glases
They are clear glasses and they dont dark out.. when sun is too intense(white snow + heavy sunny day = hard for my eyes) so i use a polarized sunglass clip, that clip over my clear glass :)

something like this but not as ugly:

Oh and i dont wear them to look cool, am 23 and i dont care about being "cool", sometime i drive ugly ass old car and its funny at stoplight to see the 16yr boy with the hondas looking at me strangely like they are proud. When i drive my camaro i know i dont need sunglasses to look cool and everyone that drive that car in the city looks cool with or without sunglasses young or old anyway.

Didn't need glasses until I hit 40, so that must be the top of the hill and I'm heading down hill until I reach 80 where I crash and burn.

Oh yes you asked a question, I have transition glasses, so don't need sunglasses. I do have a 2nd set that I use for reading and working in the garage. With bifocal lenses, you cannot see closeup when you are standing on your head working under the dash, since the bifocal is not in the top of the lens.

Oh no, not bifocal lense again.
My dad hate that and thats all he can get lol. This should discontinued forever.

both my clear and sun glasses are bi-focals plus I have several sets of cheap dollar store ,reading glasses for close detail work, that make working on close up, items under the car much clearer.
yeah, in my case the world started getting blurry around age 18, so Ive had to use glasses for decades, I've also noticed that having several drop lights under the car helps, where it used to be just one was required

WTF are you guys talking about?!?!!??!!?!?? By our very nature we are cool. We are going to be cool till the very end when we do crash and burn. I've been unsuccessfully trying to crash and burn for the past 40 years.

We put on F! sunglasses not cuz we want to look cool but because we are F! cool and that's what we do!!!! No thought processing involved.

What is this all about?

Grumpy - with all due respect (and I have TONS for you) let your "friend" out (toss him out) at nearest bus stop... without it taking you out of your way.

Grmbl - I KNEW I should't have had that second coffee.

Grmbl. Dumb@$$!

Dweeb!

Do his undershorts stick out six inches above his jeans? If so, a wedgie is in order first. Then toss.

BTW while were talking about glasses, ID point out that you should ALWAYS wear corrective lens sun glasses not contact lenses under any welding helmet ,when welding under your self darkening welding helmet as they offer far more protection during the very brief arc flash that darkens the self darkening helmet, over time that repeated flash you can,t see can damage vision .. and the radiation from some types of arc welding CAN damage contact lenses.

these cheap helmets work surprisingly well for the low cost,
but they are not nearly as good quality as the professional helmets
heres a cheap but functional weld helmet
