PSL opinions

I recently purchased a Romanian PSL. It came with the typical military scope with a range finder but no other bells and whistles. However, while in Iraq I purchased the Soviet scope for the Dragonav complete with IR and internal lighting mechanism.

Scope aside, what's your opinion of this weapon and its bullet, 7.62x54, the Russian version of a 30-06?

Ive had limited exposure to them, Ive only fired one once (I think it was that romainian version) but it seemed to be a decent value, my M1A1 costs a good deal more and I did not see all that much better accuracy, yeah the M1A1 is more accurate but not by a huge degree at least to the only one I got to play with, lets put it this way, if I had the spare cash Id buy a couple

While I would not say they are real expensive I would agree that neither are they cheap. They have also gone up in price about 100% in the last 6-7 years. Initially I wanted a dragonov but research tells me there are only 124 of them in the states. Assuming you can find one you would pay dearly for it, to the extent that most likely you would never use it. For the money I probably could have bought a better rifle then the PSL but like a lot of my other toys I simply wanted this one.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be to put a good sporting scope on it. Again my research tells me not to waste my time, effort, or money as they won't hold up either due to the scope or its mounts malfunctioning. That doesn't bother me as I really do like the military scope I have.

In any case, I now have one of the few weapons remaining on my "I'd really like to have a ....... " list.
