My 383 up and running BUT I have lifter ticking noise I tryed to adjust them but can get rid of the noise.

I purchased the lifter used they are stock OEM GM everytime I think I saving my self a couple Bucks it turn around and bits me in the rear.

What I have read the 1st Gen OEM GM lifter are know to tick.

The motor will never rev past 5500 RPM's so I dont need a high end high dollar lifter set up.

I running a LT4 Hot cam, Comp Cam Ultra steel 1.6 RRA stock size Harden push rods with guild plates, I dont want to change anything just new QUITE lifters.

But which Brand and what part # I looked at 2nd Gen GM Lifter But I seeing 2 diffrent part numbers which one will work and quite.

I read stay away from Comp Com R lifters hard to get adjusted in.

Anyone what brand and part Number that will not break the bank.

I just don't have any experience with roller lifters to give you any advice about what to buy. In fact I'm building my first roller camshaft engine now.

Let us know what you think of the new lifters you purchased when you get them installed.

its been years since Ive used OEM roller lifters on any build, so I,m reluctant to suggest any, I generally use one of these suppliers

GM part #12371042.Scoggin Dickey shows that as being the Gen III LS7 lifters, and as the standard replacement now and its compatible with the earlier Chevy v8 engines but you might need different push rod lengths

Assuming youve located the lifter tick to a single cylinder location, do this quick test, look carefully for an exhaust gasket leak, if you don,t find one .swap a couple rocker arms that are NOT near each other and see if the problem stays with the lifter or rocker arm location
a good many lifter ticks are rocker related

I started to put the motor back toghether with the new lifters I already have notice they have a better feel to them adjusting the preload not spongy like the ones I took out.

The old set just did not feel right from the get go this is my first roller motor so I didn't know the spongy lifter feel was not a normal for roller lifters.

I done Hyd flat tappets many times now the new lifters fell more like tem when you adjust the preload now.

I should have it back up and running this weekend.

The new lifters did the trick.
Oh Victory is Sweet !!!

Any pics comparing the two different lifters ?
Thanks for getting back with the results marv02!

You seen OEM lifter you seen just about every other lifter looks the same as the lifter I replaced them with.
