Race in Bitburg this weekend... need your thoughts.

Yes - the dude catching upp with me only to find me in hysterical laughter was priceless. Still grinning now.

I left one detail out - the female friend I was with was also hysterical... with fright!

I had been driving it slowly like a boat that evening - again, the idea was to keep an eye on temp and pressures...

But when the challenge came along and I got on the gas... it planted her, completely unsuspecting, in the bench seat... V8 screaming in second then third + blower howling... Tires coming loose and needing correction... Roooooaaaarrrr!!!! Then, down the road, the loud blow-off venting as I got off the gas... her fingernails were wrenched into the dash.

She had NO clue how fast this thing was.

Heheheheheh

One of the coolest parts about driving this beast is first gear. As long as you don't come down too hard, it sorta grabs the car and THRUSTs it brutally forward. And when you getoff the gas, the bypass vents loud.

ROOOAAARRRRR - FFFFSSSHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh; ROOOAAARRRRR - FFFFSSSHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh...

That was amost more scary for her...

I'm still cackling like a madman!

AWESOME!!!

most girls eventually either find they hate or love fast cars, rarely are they passive ,obviously you don,t need to be dealing with someone who hates your hobby

Running VERY well. Still can't manage to hook better than 1.87, but the track isn't prepped.

Was holding back a little and got a best run of 11.73 @ 114.

Then alternator crapped out right when I was going to attempt a few final runs - shut engine down, it never came up again (without a boost). The remote voltage sensor wire came loose.

Race ended there. But I'm quite happy. Other than a busted alt, it smoked!!!!

Yeah am curious mee too.
Was it just the jetting change or the drag radials?

A bit of tuning + a smaller driven pulley on the super + a forged rotating assy allowing me to spin it above 5600 RPM all the way to 6100.

just a bit of info, Im sure you could if you ever decide to do it, swap to a bit longer duration cam and move your power curve higher in the rpm band and noticeably increase peak power at the cost of some low speed drive-ability, your current cams designed mostly for low and mid range, kick the duration up into the 240-245 range and you could easily boost peak power
if you ever feel like changing to a P.I.T.A. to drive on the street combo with scary power above 5000rpm, a cam like this and probably a converter chance would get you there

Right - tomorrow I drive up to Bitburg again.

I replaced the alcohol controller + new plugs + new overdriven alt pulley.

Controller seems to work perfectly.

I must admit, the new plugs make a significant difference. The idle smoothed out very nicely. Vacuum is at 16 inches at idle 900 RPM.

This is going to sound wimpy to you, but I like my smooth 900 rpm idle with 16 inches of vacuum. I like that I have (close to or on the money) 700HP/600TQ. It runs solid 11s. I love my OD trans with lock-up converter; cruising at 70 MPH at 2100 rpm. I love my 2400 stall converter.

I think I will keep it the way it is.

In terms of performance, it is perfect! Just the way I want it - only driving in wet is frustrating. I can't bury people at the stop light if it's wet. ZERO acceleration traction in wet.

I love the way my suspension is tuned. The air lift bags are great. The polyurethane bushings are great. The fast streering box is great.

No, at this point I am focusing on reliability, detailing and some luxuries (door poppers.)

your showing signs of wisdom brought on by experience and maturity, be careful your starting to sound like an old geezer like me!
I have had far more fun with my high 11 second corvette, and Pontiac lemans than I ever had with my low 10 second corvette!
