I have a few that don’t switch rotation so well anymore. They don’t even have that many miles. Is there any certain oil I can let them soak in? Penetrating oil? Does oil even get inside?

if your ratchet wrench is reluctant to work correctly it may be damaged internally and need to be replaced but its very common for it to just need to be oiled and cleaned,
drop those ratchet wrenches in can of about 90% marvel mystery oil and 10% WD40 well mixed, to set submerged to soak over night it generally helps
they are reluctant to work as moisture/rust or dirt gets inside the mechanics
once soaked put wrench on a bolt of matched size and work ratchet back and forth,
if its reluctant to free up, re-soak, repeat they generally free up by the first or second night

I miss the good O’days when Craftsman ratchets were available in fine tooth gears and they took anything you did to them or get free replacement or parts. I took a ratchet to where Craftsman are sold (Ace hardware), the guy talked to me like I was scamming him. I miss those Sears tool stores!

The Lowes around me sell Craftsman tools but you need a slip for warranty hell some of my Craftsman tools are 50 years old and no I don't have a reciept

Yes, the “receipt trap.” It’s like those “rebates” They hope you don’t bother or miss the return date so they don’t pay out.
I figure if Sears got me to buy their Craftsman hand tools with a lifetime warranty and the stopped honoring such, I’ll just buy another and in a month or so use that receipt to return the broken tool

I know like me ,you have been collecting tools for 50 years or at least have tools that age a lot of them have changed so the receipt switch might not work but the 50 year old tools I have are a lot better than what they're making now I don't even look at Craftsman tools any more

I know exactly what you mean however no employee has ever called me on any old piece of crap tool when a receipt covers their ass. Contrary to what most people think, old tool, broken tools just get thrown out with the recyclables or employees take them home. Only the paperwork is needed to balance the books.
