repair drain plug in oil pan, youll eventually either strip an oil pan plugs threads or an oil pans drain threads, or purchase a used engine or oil pan that has marginal or stripped threads, simply because people get lazy and cross thread or strip oil pans drain plugs.
now if your semi skilled with a welder, and the oil pan is steel, and you have easy access to remove the oil pan the obvious answer is to temporarily remove the oil pan and drill out the old threads and weld a large threaded nut over the existing drain, hole,(usually from the inside surface) then insert a match bolt with a flanged head and nylon washer, as a repair, and that works great, but in some cases the oil pans not easily removed , due to a cross member or transmission or exhaust might be in the way, or the oil pan might be aluminum and you might not have a welder or the required skills.
a good TIG, or MIG welder a drill, or DIE GRINDER sure helps and a rotary wire brush to clean the surface for a good weld won,t hurt either
