Internet is slow .

Thanks Brian, I followed your lead and went by your numbers. I'll install it after I clean up the manifold. One more thing, the needle screw that is in the rear right above the power brake vacuum connection. What is it and how is it tuned?

I remember the Rochester 2G Carburator being produced from 1955-1978. And it may have been in production longer for stationary engines like an Irrigation water pump engine or standby generator applications .
Its been a whule since I had to rebuild a 2GC OR 2GV Carb.
I recall a backside 3 screw on a few Smog era Chevy 2G Carbs.
Last one was on a 1978 Buick Regal with a 305 ci Chevy V8 TH350 Trans I rebuilt in 1992-1993 for a friend .
I think its an Idle air bypass screw Hot Idle Compensator.
Also to assist in Hot Engine Soak Startups in Summer time.
Don't recall the adjustment procedure .
If its broken off might be best to leave it alone for now.
Unless you have a replacement on hand ready to install.

What is the Carb number you are working with Richard ?
Your 2G 1968 Pontiac 400 Catalina Carb is scattered over 3 or 4 threads now.

Ok.
I re read.
Hopefully you turned the screw in Clockwise and counted how many turns.
Set the screw exact same as prior Richard.

No, it's the only screw I didn't write it down. The idle air mix screws in the throttle body I did count but assembly instructions said to turn in clockwise until just seated and back off 2 turns each which was different than what was there originally at left side 2 1/2 and right side was 4 turns in.

Start at 1-1/2 -2 turns counter clockwise out.
Its a real simple carb to tune to the Pontiac 400.
Don't sweat it.

Good information here. On our Buick 300 is a Rocheter 2G. I found the tag, the number on it 7019075 shows it is from a 1961 Pontiac
