S10 Weekend Truck?

Thinking about a down the road project. Considering picking up a cheap Chevy S10 or a GMC Sonoma and dropping in a LS something engine, beefy transmission and rear end. Seems like the combination of a light truck with 450-500 HP would make for a fun, practical, sleeper weekend trash and furniture hauling truck plus make some impressive runs at the drag strip. Looks like there is a lot of conversion kits out there for the engine/trany swap challenges and plenty of conversion walkthroughs. Just wondering if anyone on Grumpys forum has done something like this and how the results came out??

Dropping SBC & BBC into S-10's were the Rage to do in the 1990's.
Many of my.old friends did it.
Works .
Traction hookup at dragstrip was always a problem.
Slide A Link Traction bars required at least.
