Searching for Technical Input

Hello, all........
Name is Ron and I live in South Mississippi.
I am working on an 84 C10 Chevy Step Side pickup, and am building a 355 small block mill.
Block is an 880 roller block w/LT4 Hot Cam,roller rockers, aftermarket aluminum heads,Weiand 8150 intake and 600cfm Holley.
In a prior life an engine rebuild was: ream the ridges, hone the cylinders using a drill and hone, replace the bearings, rings and gaskets, then drive on down the road.

Nowadays, virtually every aspect of an engine build is subject to hours of research and parts shopping.
I come to Grumpy's Performance seeking the cumulative wisdom of those who have traveled this path before me......

Glad to meet y'all..........

What are you doing with truck ?
Daily driving ?
Hotrod ?
Racing ?

The 880 block is Ok.
The backyard rebuild is questionable for performance use.

I am currently looking at it a lot making engine and sifting noises while pretending...........
It is just gonna be a fun driver. Daily, weekly, whatever. My demands on my truck are not to many at this point.
My first chore was to remove the TH350 and put an M20 Muncie in it.
2.73 open diff has been changed out to a 3.73 Yukon posi.
Brakes done, now onto engine. Then, body, paint and interior.

I had intended it to be something to keep me occupied; it now keeps me consumed !

The stock cast pistons can fail on a TBI 350 OR VOTECH 350 at 400 Hp or more.
Today's pump gas is not great.
Forged Pistons best.

Pistons are cast...sealed power 345NPS.
Flat top w/4 valve indents.
Set .028" deck height w/.015" thick gaskets for .043 quench and 10.1 compression.
I do not really anticipate much over 325-350HP, and will probably never turn in excess of 5000RPM.

Ok.
They usually snowball projects here.
350 gets ditched for a 383 build.

Thanks, I appreciate it.
However, since my name change I am unable to log on.......
This is the 3rd account I have set up just in order to communicate.
Once I log out, the site will no longer accept my password, and attempts to have the reset email sent have failed.
I am beginning to think the site does not like me.....

the web site software has no opinion on anyone good, bad or indifferent, but I'm reasonably sure the issues can be worked out

Geez..........that's one of my personal mottos...along with "You can lead a man to water, but you can't keep him from pissing in it."
