serpentine belt on corvette LS C6 pulley not spinning

I have 2005 corvette the engine runs fine bot the crankshaft pulley is not spinning. There is no oil leak and the pulley hasn't moved. So there's no power anything and the car would over heat. Any help would be great. The serpentine belt is on and it's tight
Thanks in Advance

the pulleys attached to the crank snout , if its not spinning while the engines running the pulley or the crank is broken, Id suggest taking it to a decent mechanic "NOW" but use a tow truck & trailer don,t drive it:thumbsup:

drilling an adding pins to the damper crank snout interface line to prevent damper rotation on the crank snout is common in higher rpm performance applications

Just returned my 07 vette to shop after having its wobbly balancer changed. On the way home lost steering and a/c.
Took it back dealer says there was a large leak of engine oil
"because the harmonic balancer bolt was not sealed properly"
and that allowed engine oile to leak out of crankshaft.

IS THIS POSSIBlE? I read all your articles on balancers and never read about a seal.
Also is this bolt torque to yield? Shouldnt they have put a new bolt on? I will not pick the car up unless i get a decent answer from them. PLEASE HELP

if the dealership replaced/repaired the damper they had to be the ones re-installing the damper retention bolt and should have inspected the damper and seal, thus if the damper came loose its more than likely shoddy mechanical repair work on the dealerships part.
have the dealership check the power steering hoses for leaks and the power steering reservoir fluid level as its common to have that leaking cause the serpentine belt to slip. and the P.S, pump and brackets needs to be removed and replaced if the damper on the crank snout was replaced.
Id be suggesting calling the G.M. customer service, national supervisor and maybe getting a lawyer, as the common cost to replace a damper and seal exceeds $1000.
repair work like this can be done by the cars owner at a very significant cost reduction, one reason many corvette owners are eventually forced into learning how to work on their own cars and purchasing a shop manual

A shop manual, is a good investment,
as is the purchase of a good floor jack and jack stands,
and basic mechanics tools.

the issue is simply that without an on site examination/inspection, of the engine components , accessories and mount brackets involved ,as they sit, its very difficult to point to the exact cause, and without knowing what failed and examining the components I can only go by what you've posted as info.
the rubber seal, that prevents oil leaks around the spinning damper, in the front cover is shown in the videos .
as long as the damper is centered and concentric on the crank snout and its outer surface is 100% undamaged and glass smooth the seal should prevent oil leaks, the bolt holds the damper in place and should have been tightened to about 190 ft lbs .
now if it came loose and wobbled, the seal in the cover obviously could and most likely was damaged and needs to be replaced, and since that takes a good deal of effort the guys that did the repair may have just reinstalled the damper ...hoping that the old seal would hold up for a few miles so they could ignore the responsibility and work involved

Grumpy, They are sticking to their story that the oil leaked past the harmonic balancer bolt, because the mechanic didn't seal the threads with silicone

think about that, even if they were not lying,

wtf.gif

the dealership mechanics were responsible to correctly repair the issue you paid to have fixed,
so even if that issue was lack of silicone on some threads, and that was the requirement,
(obvious B.S.)
they were responsible to fix it correctly

they must think your an idiot,
the damper retention bolt screws into a blind hole in the crank snout theres no oil pressure or access to oil in the damper threads
document and call G.M. national customer service
no amount of silicon on the damper bolt threads will prevent an oil leak
theres a good picture of the cover and seal the damper slides inside during the first 30 seconds of this video
