I can't explain this to shippers yet. I have loads of parts bought to have on hand the day it's needed for many different projects. Sometimes I saved the shipping boxes, other times not. I bought dual exhaust systems from Summit for a few models - 68 thru 72 GTO, Skylark, Chevelle and Cutlass (is this A body?)
Can I just bubble wrap and brown paper around the pipes using the fiber tape? That should be ok and not get damaged right. I have a few sets of over the axle, mufflers, X pipe kits - no down pips.

Its the cheapest way to ship exhaust parts.
May not be damaged.
If dropped hard likely the ends will be dinged up.
Once place in boxes L x W x H measurements are doomed for high shipping $$$.
Out of box bare they can just charge by Length & weight.

They come through the post office all the time with just clear plastic wrap on them.

I'm always amazed when suppliers send me things. They seem to put the smallest items in the largest boxes and I know I'm paying for the price. Last fall I came home to find a big box outside for me but I couldn't remember ordering anything big lately. Inside this 2 X 3 ft. box was 3 12oz cans of spray paint from Ames Performance. Rock Auto and Summit, especially Summit gets silly with huge size boxes.

So true. That's why I will choose someone who offers free shipping first (mostly ebay).
It burns my ass when I have to order something for .99 and the shipping is 9.99

Speaking of pipe, I had some rare body side chrome trim from a 1962 Acadian Beaumont wagon for sale but didn't want to ship it.

A U.S. buyer convinced me to ship in in some plastic plumbing pipe with the ends glued shut.

Just sharing an almost bullet proof way of shipping some delicate stuff.

Not exhaust but your pipe reference jogged my, like, memory.

Thanks
Randy

GO TRUMP !!!
